2013 was the first year that Audi Q5 barely surpassed the A4 as the as the sales king of all the Audis at that time. But, by last year this car outsold the A4 by almost 40 percent. They got the achievement less than a decade after the sedan birthed this crossover. Obviously, the new 2018 Audi Q5 has no disadvantage in the marketplace. This white-bread bloodlessness will dominate the market.
The new 2018 Audi Q5 not only gets a new suit of clothes, but it also gets full reworking in the model for nine-year history. This also includes a new generation of Audi’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder which is very familiar for Audi users. Now the machine changes into 273 pound-feet of torque and 252 horsepower. Not to mention an all-new platform which assimilates more aluminum bits and a seven-speed-dual-clutch automatic in place of last Q5 models which is eight-speed conventional automatic
Similar with the recently renewed A4 and A4 Allroad, 2018 Audi Q5 is a very familiar car. At a glance, this car is the same vehicle as the previous model. But if we take a look closely, the new model replaced in every major dimension by being within an inch of the vehicle. Actually, the new Q5 is 10 pounds heavier than the previous one. It also reveals that this vehicle got a couple of new curves above the wheels and a lazy rolling wave along the side of its exterior parts. Similar with the Mercedes-Benz GLC300 and the BMW X3, the new Q5 is pleasantly inoffensive both in shape and in impact. Although there are more-distinctive-looking crossover alternatives out there such the grotesque Lexus RX or the edgy Cadillac XT5, this new Audi is the winner for its shape.
As for the interior, the new Q5 has a visually quiet yet near-minimalist interior style. Like the Allroad, it is a calming place. Its minimalist style has no flashiness to confuse and distract our eye. Instead, it invites greater material quality, and the manufacturer does pretty well. Unfortunately, when we take a look at the back seat and cargo areas, those will remind you of cheap-feeling pieces.
2018 Audi Q5 Specs
The new Q5 becomes accessible with its Drive Select mode toggle. It also comes with an off-road setting which locks the drivetrain into all-wheel drive setting. Like other All roads, the Q5’s all-wheel drive has on-demand system which called Quattro with Ultra. What does it mean? It means that the vehicle is a front-drive car most of the time. The system operates flawlessly and smoothly. The new model has much better body control than the previous model. The 2018 Audi Q5 does not have air springs. But the coil springs, the suspension, and the fixed-rate dampers are works pretty well, free of float, it is a well-controlled ride. The Q5 feels advanced with its specs. The one thing that becomes a big problem is the steering system. The steering gives electrically assisted systems that will put off by the drivers. Well, at least the brake pedal is top-notch for the class.
